Time Flies!!!

So I was getting ready to go visiting teaching tonight and I was reading through the conference talk given by President Monson. I talked about it in my last posting. Anyway there was a quote today that I find very fitting that I want to blog about. First check out these pictures...

The one on the top is a picture of me when I was about 2. My mother made the Halloween costume. The one on the bottom is my nephew "D" this last month at Halloween. Yes he is wearing the exact same outfit that I wore nearly 30 years ago.

I don't have children...but I can attest to how quickly life passes...so I think that we can all relate to the following quote from President Monson "If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will - to your surprise - miss them profoundly."

After finding this picture of me tonight I thought how fast time must have flown by for my mother. So really this post is for her benefit...Enjoy Mom!

I want to be like you~

For all of those who are truly young at heart!

So I have been told over the years that I have very young parents. Well...they are, but in more ways than just the year that they were born. I mean just look at them! This picture is actually just under 2 years ago, but they were in Hawaii livin' it up touring the island on a Harley. Not a place that you would generally find your parents, but what a great model to follow.

I say don't think you are too old (unless otherwise advised by a medical doctor) to get on out there and live your life. Make every moment count. It makes me think about this past General Conference when President Monson spoke on Sunday morning encouraging us all to enjoy the journey (talk can be found on http://www.lds.org/).

"My" Mill & Mix...gone~

I was sitting at my house yesterday morning enjoying the quiet Sunday morning when I got a phone call from Harvey. He is the gentleman who I was purchasing the Mill & Mix from. My parents were going to pick it up on Friday on their way to Idaho for the weekend. The first thing he said after hello was that I wasn't going to like what he had to tell me. He said that his daughter had wanted the Mill & Mix and he had already taken it off the internet and taken it over to her house. My first thought was I couldn't believe that he didn't check with her first then I told him it was alright since it was his daughter.

Now lets just hope he really has a daughter and I am not just missing out on it since I live in another state and couldn't get there to pick it up within a day or two.

So the search continues...

Random Surveys

So every now and again I decide that I need to take a random survey. Over the years they have covered a variety of topics. Generally it is when I am curious about something and I am not sure how else to gather the information so I just start asking people to find out what the consensus is. I have asked people in my ward, at work and most recently my family. I would like to share the results of my most recent survey. It took almost a month to complete…let me explain.

Mid October I was thinking that I have never asked my mom and my sisters about when they were dating what kept them wanting to go out with their now husbands. Then I realized that it is something that everyone always asks when they meet new people. You know the “tell me how you guys met” story. Well it’s not like I met my family. So I started one by one calling all of my sisters and asked them the following 3 questions.

When you were dating your husband…why did you keep dating him?
Did you think that he was hot?
Do you think that he is hot now?

I received some of the funniest responses that I almost ran right off the road (I call them when I am driving to and from work). Then I decided that I wanted to ask my mother as well. About 4 ½ weeks had passed and I had 2 requests from the women to ask the men in our family the same questions. They had already heard about my survey prior to my asking but still I had some pretty funny responses which I don’t think that anyone would have expected.

DISCLAIMER: Before I tell you all of their responses I first and foremost want to make it clear that they are all VERY happily married!! This will maybe open your eyes to what is really important (if you haven’t figured it out already). Also…the names have been withheld to protect the innocent (or the honest)!!!

My very own Mill & Mix!!

Okay so I sound like I am an old lady…but I am pretty excited that I got my own Mill & Mix. For those of you who are wondering what in the world that is let me explain. My mother has one, and it is a really loud/large machine but it is the machine that I learned to make bread with. It grinds the wheat and mixes the dough all in one. Plus – it has a hand crank on the back so that it can be used when there is no power. I have been really turning my thought towards food storage for some time and this is just another thing that I can check off of my list. I am not sure how or when I will get it to AZ, but I have it and that is what matters. Plus it is what I grew up using so I already know how to use it!!

Next on my list is a generator. I know that seems odd as well, but I live in the desert and if the power goes out I don’t want to loose all of my frozen food. If you an are expert on generators I would love input…
